The company was established in 2007 in the fields of mining, mineral exploration and international trade. It owns the Shinejinst coking coal deposit in Shinejinst soum of Bayankhongor aimag and the Zeegt coal deposit in Chandmani soum of Gobi-Altai aimag.
SHINE JINST COAL MINING PROJECT
Location: Bayankhongor aimag, Shinejinst soum
Mine life: 19-year
Description: Shinejinst mine hosts 168 Mt of JORC 2012 semi-soft coking coal resources with 88.3 Mt of Proved and Probable Open Cut Coal Reserves located 330 km by pilot road to the Mongolia-China border by Ceke. Shinejinst mineable coal quantities are 113.1 Mt ROM at a strip ratio of 7.7:1 and 19-year mine life. Planned 2021 drilling program for Shinejinst to upgrade quality data and improve Proved and Probable Reserves.
ZEEGT GOAL MINING PROJECT
Location: Gobi-Altai aimag, Chandmana soum
Description: Zeegt mine hosts 101 Mt of JORC 2012 semi-soft coking coal resources located 159 km west from Shinejinst project and 413 km by unpaved road to the Mongolia-China border by Burgastai. Planned 2021 drilling program for Zeegt to upgrade quality data and improve Proved and Probable Reserves as well as update Zeegt feasibility study.
INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
On August 15, 2016, Gobi Coal& Energy LLC with the Mongolian Railway State Owned Shareholding Company (MTZ) entered into an agreement to build, develop, finance and operate the Western Mongolian Vertical Railway. It is a 330 km section of the 1,270 km western vertical railway from the Arts Suuri in northern Mongolia to Shiveekhuren on the Chinese border, passing through the Shinejinst coal mine and the Zeegt coal mine. In cooperation with a Chinese state-owned enterprise, a Chinese-registered company was established to build roads, railways, a coal washing plant, and finance projects, and aims to increase mine development and production through coal trading.
